Meet Marina the Turtle
Once upon a time, off the picturesque shores of South Padre Island, there lived a family of colorful, adventurous traveling turtles. Papá and Mamá Turtle were curious to visit a magical place they’d heard of from migrating birds. They soon embarked on a journey from the Rio Grande up the San Antonio River. With the help of friendly armadillos, they arrived to the world-famous Alamo City. The Turtles fell in love with the friendly, colorful, vibrant culture and made the River Walk their home. During the summer months, Mamá Turtle was ecstatic when she laid an unusually pink-colored egg. To her delight, baby Marina Turtle—the cutest turtle-tot with the biggest smile—hatched on the banks of the river! They befriended the surrounding wildlife like ducks, fish, and squirrels as well as the GO RIO Boat Captains along the river.
Marina is a sweet, intelligent, adventurous, multilingual, fun-loving young turtle. She is a natural storyteller who enjoys music, art, history, dancing and taking photos with her shell phone. She is a vibrant entertainer - everyone wants to be her friend and make memories with her on the San Antonio River Walk.
She is an explorer that loves to discover new, fun stories floating on a GO RIO Cruise and learning more about history, monuments, sights, and nature in the city she loves. She aspires to become a GO RIO Boat Captain to one day tell her story and share her adventures of how she became Marina, the GO RIO Turtle! Marina promotes curiosity and appreciation for the preservation of nature and takes pride in the culture of the Alamo City. Marina also loves swimming and dancing and if you look carefully, you can get a glimpse of her pretty pink shell poking out from the surface of the River as she swims past the GO RIO Boats or does the turtle two-step on the banks of the San Antonio River.
